Removing Malware for WinXP Professional

    Hello,

    I have been carefully following the steps to remove malware on my laptop
    with WinXP. While I have downloaded (last step) ComboFix I cannot install
    it. The install stops about 3/4 of the way when my antivirus s/w detects
    ComboFix as a trojan itself and quarantines it. What gives here? I am
    trying to rid my computer of viruses,malware etc not add to my woes.
    Can you help please?:(

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    The instructions for ComboFix clearly state that all protection software needs to be disabled before running ComboFix. Your protection software just does not no the difference between real malware and programs used to remove malware. If you are infected already, then your protection software is just not doing its job.
