removing traces of Bearshare

    I made the mistake of downloading Bearshare. I removed it in the control panel/remove programs site but I still get this one search engine called "30 search engines." I've went into control/alt/delete and processes but I don't see anything to do with Bearshare on there. I've also went into my hard drive and into the program files and deleted the Bearshare application but still get that search engine. I use Webroot which seems to work well. I'm not a computer expert so what else should I do? My computer doesn't seem to be running slow,thank God. It has always acted weird if I leave it on for a long time effecting the sound. I reboot it and it will work fine. I read something about going into your registry. Where is that?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
    You did not tell us what version of Windows you are running nor did you tell us what browser you use. So let's just assume a recent version of Internet Explorer. On the top right of your Internet Explorer window, you will see a little Manifying Glass icon and to the right of it a little icon like a down arrow ( un upside down triangle ). Click the upside down triangle and select Manage Search Providers. I the next window that comes up select Bearshare and then click the Remove button down at the bottom. Then just close the window for managing search providers.

    I did what you suggested and Bearshare doesn't show up. BTW I am running WIndows XP and I use Internet Explorer. Yahoo is default and up in the toolbar is also a browser called 30 search engines that I can't get rid of.

    Are you saying you cannot remove it using my instructions and by just looking for 30 Search Engines instead of Bearshare?
