Renaming multiple files at once

Lets say I have 100 chapters of a book in .doc files. Lets say they're all named something like "The Best Freekin' Book In The Freekin' World Chapter 1" and "...Chapter 2" and so on. But since the chapter number is at the end, I have to pause or click on a particular folder/file to find out what chapter it is. I know they will be displayed in order from 1 to 100, but if I can't see the chapter name, I can't tell which chapter is which if looking at a list of chapters. I want to rename them so the chapter number is first, not last. So the renamed .docs will look like "Chapter 1: The Best Freekin' Book In The Freekin' World" and "Chapter 2:...." and so on. I know I've probably asked this before, but there's got to be an easier way than manually right-clicking on each chapter and selecting "rename" 150 times. What app(s) will perform a bulk renaming and add the chapter numbers in automatically?

    Thanks!

(no rush on this, but if I could get some suggestions in the next 3 minutes, I'd appreciate it :p LOL Just kidding! ;) roflmao)

Here is a very nice freeware I use a lot. It has a lot of options. It lets you delete from the front, back and middle XXX number of characters, add to a file name, search & replace. even numbering in many different formats including roman numerals. More than I can list here.

Yeah.... I found the Microsoft F2 thing right after I first posted this last night, and while it would work just fine (I think), I'm looking for something with more flexibility and more features to allow for some custom file naming options. So I'll check out the apps you guys linked to, and we'll see what happens.

    THANKS!

 Whooops. Like I said eariler....
This time, I'll bookmark this thread, or at least save the thread link so I can avoid asking about this for a 3rd time;) My memory sucks.... like really, really bad. Too much fun in my 20's left my memory a cousin to swiss cheese: it stinks and is full of holes.

Thanks to all.... (and thanks for putting up with me. I love you guys :cry)

As often as I need to use these things I do the same thing, I look for a new one to replace the one I used before and is stored on some CD somewhere. This time i found a freeware one thats pretty easy yet quite versital if you want to take a look. Its called Rename Master and here's the home page:

    Code:
    www.joejoesoft.com
There's some other freeware there that looks interesting as well. Its funny though, whenever I need to use a fake e-mail on the net to fill in a form when I don't want to get spammed, I use joejoe at aol dot com, I wonder if he's been getting my mail?
