I keep getting VPU errors with my current ABIT PCI-E 256 RX 700

So I need to upgrade...been away for about a year so what would you do with about $200? Something better? Or replace it?

    I currently have:

    AMD 64 3000+
    1 GB RAM

Am looking to possibly go Hi-Def monitor in the next 6 months...

Hi-Def monitor? not sure what you mean by that, but all graphics cards have supported Hi Def for years now.

for $200, it seems you're in the nvidia 6800 (regular 6800 model) and ATi x800 Pro range. (unless you find a killer deal or buy used).

what kind of VPU errors are you getting? you might want to look into the warranty of your card and possibly RMA it to the manufacturer, x700 cant be more than a year or so old.

I think he means he will use his TV as a monitor with 1080i/720p...
