I downloaded Comcast Rhapsody onto my computer not knowing it's not part of Comcast, so it installed extra stuff onto my computer that I cannot delete. Specifically, it is 3D Groove Playback Engine and Comcast Rhapsody (takes up 123 MB). I've had several instances of spyware pop-ups since - especially the media fastclick crap. What can I do to uninstall this? I've tried all conventional methods - none work. It apparently has affected my outgoing emails as well b/c I just gave someone a virus via it somehow.
    Thanks, Alanna

Are you saying you cannot find the programs that you installed in Add/Remove programs?

Sounds to me like you also need to gripe to Comcast! If they are installing malware onto your PC, you should scream at them and change ISPs (if possible).

I can find the programs in the add/remove programs list, but it will not let me uninstall them or remove them from the list. I can delete the shortcut off the desktop, but that's it. I did call Comcast - turns out they actually have nothing to do with the program itself - it is made and run by real.com, which I also contacted futilely. I tried their ways of uninstalling on listen.com to no avail. We're moving out of state in 2 months, so I'll be getting new service soon anyhow. This is the only real problem I've had with Comcast so far. But some huge company like "Real" certainly doesn't care about the little guy like me. Is there a way to uninstall programs besides via the control panel? Thanks!

Yes, but it sometimes can be time consuming to get all pieces that are in the registry. The first thing you can do is delete all their files from your hard disk. Do you know where they are located?

When you try to uninstall, what is the exact message you get?

Are you familiar and comfortable with using regedit (the registry editor)? What OS do you have?
