Can anyone help identify why running Ad-aware on my system crashes it. It never used to do this and aonly started doing it a week or so ago. I've run Spybot and found nothing, Trendmicro's antispy program and found nothing and have tried the microsoft antispy with nothing coming up. Any ideas anyone?

It could be happening for a few reasons:
    1) it was some how corrupted (an uninstall, reboot, and reinstall will fix this)
    2) malware stopping it from running (or it caused item 1)
    3) registry corruption problem
    4) a conflict with another non-malwre program

If you suspect you may have a malware problem, follow the below steps.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Last week I ran all the tests, and checks etc. and everything came up clean. Right now I'm running a Symantec online scan that has found at least one infected file. As well I'm running another Bitdefender. I've uninstalled Ad-Aware and I'm not running a realtime spyware at the moment besides whats with the Pc-Cillin 2005 package. Numerous shutdowns, comp. is quite slow, likely needs a lot of driver updating etc.

A slow computer does not normally mean you require driver upgrades.

You should complete what I gave you in message # 2 if you want help! By the way the READ ME has changed since last week.
