Runtime error with iexplorer

Running XP Home SP3.
For some unknown reason I am just recently unable to open a link from an e-mail in Outlook to IE8. I get two dialogue popups indicating a Runtime error as indicated in the attached files.
As far as I know no changes to either program have been made to either program recently.
The curious thing is that the problems occur in only one user profile. If I forward the e-mail to myself as system admin, clicking the e-mail link opens the IE page as it should.
Can anyone provide a fix to this irritation?
