    Hello,
I'm not sure where to post this, because I'm not sure what's causing my problem. Please move me as you see fit.

    I have a Dell Inspiron 600M
    XP SP2
    Intel Pentium M 1.5Ghz
    599 Mhz, 1G RAM
    Mobility Radeon 9000

Over the past week, it has been slowing to a crawl. I run AVG Anti-spyware and Anti Virus every night (all clean). I have run Ccleaner. I have run Defraggler. I cleaned out my startup programs. None of this seems to be helping.

It can take up to 2 minutes for a "compose" window to open in Outlook.

When I open "My Computer", I get the little flashlight "searching for items" for about 15 seconds (this is better since I did some cleanup).

    Everything takes *forever*.

Two other things - although I don't think they're related; but then, what do I know?

    1. My docking station began un-recognizing my USB devices a few months ago. I restacked them (I think that's what I did; I don't remember exactly; I googled the problem and followed some instructions I found), and that has helped enormously. I only lose my connections every couple of days instead of every three minutes.

    2. For a long time now, I get a message when I reboot telling me that something in the system registry had to be recovered from a backup (that's obviously not the exact wording; I can reboot and provide that if you want). My googling tells me that it's likely something is deleting an entry when I shut down, but I can't figure out what it is. This has literally been going on for several months, and at this point, I'm just ignoring it. It doesn't seem to be causing any trouble.

I'm not even sure what diagnostics to run at this point. I am considering doing a fresh XP install, *sigh*.

    Any ideas?

    thank you!
    ann

    UPDATE: s-l-o-w-i-n-g to a crawl

I've spent the past 2 days running combofix, spybot, AVG & MGtools. Spybot took about 12 hours to complete.

I'm attaching those logs, although neither spybot nor AVG found anything substantial.

    help
    thanks
    ann
