My old Toshiba notebook died not too long ago and I had no back-ups of any data from it's hard drive. But before I trashed it I removed the Toshiba Corporation Disk Drive (HDD2171). I was at the time using Windows XP Pro.

Today I own a nice NEW Toshiba running Vista Premium. I would like to be able to extract the information from the old computers disk drive without stepping on Bill Gates toes and certainly not by switching disk drives on my brand spanking new still under warrenty notebook PC.

Anyone have some useful intel that could help me out?

    Thanks

Thanks for the response and link to external drive. Since my notebook is operating on Vista Premium and the old disk drive operated on XP Pro would there be any conflict because of that or will I see it as say drive E:/ then just click on it and it opens?

If no conflict I suppose all should go well eh? ;)

btw when do I get promoted from private, I already did my time!

Being a newbee myself, I can't comment on promotions here.:)

I don't forsee any conflict between the XP and Vista OSs.
I have a Vista connected to a network that is predominately XP machines and have no problem transfering files between the machines.
