Hey all. Am going through the process of shoring up a new computer. This time though, while going through the "Keep Yourself Safe" checklist, I opted for MSE in place of Avira- heard some good things about MSE and was sick and tired of Avira's pop ups and horrible detection behavior.

Anyway, I know it says to only use one realtime protector, but I A) already have a Pro license of SAS, and, more importantly, B) I know that with SAS I don't get virus protection. So on the one had I have MSE which covers more bases, but then SAS which is more highly regarded for spyware (but spyware only).

I decided to install both and turn on real time protection.

Thoughts? Bad? A performance issue? Will they "collide"? What's the drawback?

    Thanks!!

They will probably work okay together. Unless you notice a dramatic slow down in system performance, they will probably be okay. Yes there is a possibility of some conflicts but it probably will not be too bad. Be careful though that they both never run scans at the same time.

Thanks. If you were me, and just wanted one on for real time protection, which would you pick?

Since SAS is not an antivirus program, you have no choice but to use MSE. ;)

Thanks chas! I'll be posting an unrelated thread soon about benchmarks and performance. If you have the time between your crusade against all the digital nasties, I'd appreciate your advice!

    EDIT- up at post1774817. Thanks!

    You're welcome.

Personally, I put no weight in bench marking programs. I care about how the PC actually performs for my uses, not a bench marking program. I also have found thru the years that tweaking can often cause more harm than good.
