saved hard drive from fire

I had a computer fire last Wensday and managed to save my hard
drive.Unfortunatly I didn't have this hard drive backed up !

My qwestion is how can I install this maxtor .Diamond max 10 pata 133,
into my other computer.The other computer has a serial ATA set up and my
hard drive was IDE.I can't remember if my Maxtor was formatted FAT32 or
NTFS.I assume they have to be the same .The operatind syatem is XP.
Any help I can get would be appreciated.

Someone will come along to better answer your question, but if the OS was XP it will read NTFS and FAT32. If it was W98SE, for example, it will read FAT32, not NTFS.

You should be able to just plug it into your mother board and start up. If you have WinXP, it will recognise it and show it in My Computer

From there, you can back it up to your SATA harddrive, or whatever you need to do. If you have any questions, just ask
