    Hello,

For quite a while now, my father's laptop has had a dreadful internet connection. Many times, firefox would just give up trying to load a page. His wireless connection speed is 54 Mbps which isn't dreadful, so I thought I should run some scans and see if there is anything going on.

He definitely has a number of toolbars installed, thought none appear in the "remove programs" list. I have no idea where these are coming from as he never installs software and really doesn't use his computer for much other than email.

At any rate, per instructions, I removed the items found by mbam. There are a number of other items in the other logs but I left those be until someone here lets me know what to do about them. I have attached the logs in a .zip.

Does anyone know why mbam quarantines the detected items instead of deleting them? What happens to these quarantined items when mbam is uninstalled?

Other than some minor junk that Malwarebytes removed ( you can empty the quarantine yourself after you have made sure that nothing was quarantined that you need ) there are no malware issue. You can give the below a run to see if anymore junk is picked up.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

I have attached the logfile. I don't see anything there that I want to keep, it all seems to be more related to the ask toolbar.
