scanner won't scan but will preview!

I have an HP laserjet 3055 flatbed scanner/printer
I have 3 pages to scan
It scanned 2 fine, no troubles
I do the 3rd and the program, "windows fax and scan" hangs up mid scan
I can do PREVIEW and it scans the whole page
I have turned it off , closed all programs and turned it on 3 times now and everytime it stops mid scan

what the heck? why did it scan 2 pages just fine?

 

Did you try the HP software that came with the printer? That is usually a lot better and more in-tuned to the printer/scanner.

 

I am bothered by the fact it worked, then just went Kuput after I made several scans that worked.
I dont know where my manual is, I did a search on googlle

used paint to scan it and edit my scans and it all worked out fine.
but its not that easy, I had to use some manipulation to get it to work and since i was filling out a form, I had to mess around with paint to get it fill in the blanks correctly.

Im just glad I had a desktop computer and not just a phone or Ipad.
