Screen Blanks After New Memory

Hey, A bit of an odd problem really, I'm pretty sure that this occured after me replacing a 256M RAM stick with a 512 one. My problem is that when I close some applications about 2 seconds after returning to the desktop my screen goes blank for half a second and then all returns to normal. It's more annoying than a problem. Any ideas why this is happening?

 

Have you tried putting it into another memory slot? It maybe the motherboard!

 

Nope I haven't tried this but i seriously doubt this would be causeing this. Plus if it was the motherboard it would have done the same thing with the existing 256 stick I had in there

 

Yes that is true, can you take it back to the place you bought it from? That would be your best bet!

 

Hmm maybe, but I don't think it's a problem with the memory. Maybe just a graphics setting that needs changing?

 

Well have you changed any settings or installed anything that might change the settings e.g. Graphics Card Drivers, or patches for games?

 

Nope as far as I know all I've done is change memory from 768 to 1,024

Problem Solved! Turned out to be that before, I had 768M of memory so I had my AGP Aperature set to 128M. However, once I had upgraded to 1Gig of ram this lower aperature size couldn't keep up for some unknown reason. Changed aperature size to 256 and now all is back to normal
