Security Suite Software

Hi -
I was wondering if anyone out there has used the free security software suite called; "Agnitum Security Suite". ... any helpful feed back would be appreciated. I'm looking for a program that provides good, free protection for WinXP and Win7;

Although I'm unfamiliar with Agnitum, I usually err on the side of caution and stick with tried and true options.

Here's the setup I have on my PCs and usually install on home user clients' PCs:

AVG Free Anti-Virus:

A few more general tips on security software:

* Be sure it's from a trusted source. Anything available for download here at Major Geeks has been tested by the Administrators to be sure it's free of spyware, malware or other creepy stuff.

* Some security software (especially McAfee and certain versions of Norton) is a memory and resource hog. The more system resources it uses in the background, the slower your PC will run.

* There is no security software available that is 100% effective in blocking all types of attacks. Hundreds of new viruses and malware appear every day; even the best software can miss the newest threats. This is why it's a good idea always use common sense when surfing the Internet or deciding if you should open a suspicious e-mail or link. If you suspect an infection, running Malware Bytes immediately will often remove it before it becomes out of control.​

As a rule I do not use security suites, although I used Norton and Trend Micro products in the past. Sometimes they are a pain to uninstall, McAfee and Norton come to mind first. Good they have separate removal software for each, but there have been times that you didn't know the program still had remnants running after it had been uninstalled. Microsoft Security Essentials was one added to that list today. Try separate utilities first. I prefer Avast or Avira for an anti virus and OnLine Armor Free for a firewall. On this machine (XP) I am using Firefox almost exclusivly as a browser, the only add-on is quick-java. Avast is the anti virus and OnLine Armor is the firewall. Personally use individual programs that are designed for a specific role.
A suite tries to cover everything, which, to me, is like a pitcher trying to cover the entire infield.
