"send link" not working

Hi-new Gateway desktop over the weekend with Windows7. I use Firefox and the "send link" under file won't work. I searched the internet and found I needed to set Windows Mail as the preferred email, and Firefox as preferred browser in the control panel, which I did and it will open a "new mail" screen but the link isn't present. I made IE8 the preferred browser and tried again and it works!!
My question, what am I doing wrong that I can't send a link in the FireFox browser.
Thanks in advance for any help. So far I like Windows7.
