I have a laptop that every time it boots up the numlock function is engaged. Since the keys are shared this make it a bit frustrating when you look up and find majorgeeks.com is 0a16rgee2s.c60.

I have checked the setup and the numlock on at boot is set to "OFF". Could there be a program in the startups that is setting the numlock on?

Windows XP remembers the setting for the numlock on shutdown. Therefore, if your numlock is off when u shutdown, it should be off when u reboot.

If it does still come on, then I would guess a 3rd party program is taking control of your keyboard somehow.
