several anti-malware apps at once

I've been reading about malware in a few different forums, and a lot of people recommend installing several anti-malware apps. But if you do that, don't you have to make sure they're not all in the Start menu, so they don't run all at once and collide?

You may wish to read this:

Plus we recommend you install and keep SuperAnti-spyware and MalwareBytes Anti-malware, both of which are free and only run when you choose to do so.

    Attention, TimW:

I was thinking of going with this combination:

    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (free version)
    SuperAntispyware (free version)
    SpywareBlaster
PC Tools Firewall Plus (free version)
    Internet Explorer 7.0

I understand MBAM, SAS and SpywareBlaster won't collide with each other, and between the 3 of them, you're covered for actual anti-virus (as well as anti-malware), right?

I've heard that PC Tools Firewall requires knowledge of the uses of several Internet Protocols. Is this going to be a problem?

I know IE is less secure than Firefox and certain other browsers, but I thought if it was optimally configured it would be acceptable.

    So wha'dya think?

You still need an AV program such as Avira or AVG, etc. ( Freeware ).

IE8 is more secure now than FF, btw.

    Otherwise you are good. ;)
