    Hi there,

My 11 year old seems to have made rather a mess of the desktop.. My fault for not keeping an eye on him. By the time he told me it was running really slow I couldn't even open chrome as it told me it was out of memory to do even that.. its running 64 bit windows 7..

Anyway.. I've run the malware removal and saved logs as best I can. There were some issues.. there is only the admin user account so I didn't disable any user accounts. I only have AVG running as far as I know, but I couldn't bring up control panel to get to the system to check anything else as the pc just hung. I couldn't get a webpage unless I ran in safe mode with networking. So I ran CCleaner in safe mode. Then rogue killer and malwarebytes.. after which it needed a reboot and rebooted normally.. I then ran the rest in normal mode, and although it did take a while as it ran very slowly in normal mode, it did eventually limp through. Hitman Pro ran fine, and found a pile of stuff.. but when I tried to check the results it made me register it, which I did, and when I clicked next after that it repaired the 3 major things it found just leaving a bunch of threads. I didn't click repair on anything, it just did it automatically when I registered the product.. so apologies.. I know your instructions were to leave anything found in Hitman Pro unrepaired, but I didn't have a choice.

When I got to MGTools it ran very slowly through to 64.5% and then just hung.. so I haven't retried it. I had to quit it and so haven't got a log file for it. And I have looked, but can't find a malware bytes log file anywhere! :(

I've attached the logs I do have. I hope someone can help.. system much more stable than it has been but still running very slowly..

    many thanks :)

This is your first big mistake!!! Kids should never be using an Admin type account and every user of the PC should have their own user account. All accounts but one should be a restricted user account and only one person ( you I assume ) should have the password to use the administrator user account.

There is a log. You should have looked for it. It creates it as it goes along. However you probably got stuck because you could not see a popup window waiting for your input. Like the prompt to approve HijackThis which the instructions for MGtools tell you that you need to click on twice. Shutdown ALL other programs including your browser and run MGtools again and watch for the TrendMicro popup for HijackThis.

The instructions tell you where the logs are. And you can always find them from within Malwarebytes as it has a Logs tab.
