Should I do anything else before posting HJ This Log?

Things were going so well and I got a couple of unsought web pages. Did a routine virus/parasite scan that showedt "Go For it", which was once again in my files. Haven't figured out where it comes from or how it gets there.

I followed all the steps as per your instructions in "Read Me First: Basic Spyware Removal & HiJack This Tutorial:"

I am using Windows XP SP2. I have updated all Windows programs plus upgraded my spyware removal programs; disabled System Restore; booted in Safe Mode. I used SpyBolt S&D v. 1.3, Ad-aware Personal v. 6.0 build 6.181, CC Cleaner, Avast Anti-virus v. 4.5. Ad-Aware showed Go For It and that was all. There are a few things on HJT I'm not sure of if, you think I should post it.

I have been having another major problem that could be involved, but don't think so. I keep losing my modem or the port. I was going to post it in another section, but will have to wait until tomorrow.

    thanks cranky

If you did all of the Read Me Tutorial, then go ahead and send us a HijackThis Log. Make sure to follow the instructions below:

Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.98.2) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder – C:\Program Files\HijackThis!

If you need a Fresh Download of HJT, get it HERE: HijackThis 1.98.2

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.

Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

I'm tied up with work these days, but somebody will take a look when they get a chance.

    Best :)

[QUOTE. Make sure to follow the instructions below>>:

<<Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.98.2>> That's the version I used.
<<MUST be extracted to its own safe folder – C:\Program Files\HijackThis!>>
I made a folder, 'Spyware Removal Programs' for my Desktop for these types of programs, if that is not good enough I can set HJT up in its own folder and rerun the log..

<<Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray>> Everything was closed except the icon for my keyboard which can used while; volume; prettty sure the parasite security were off...

I forgot the text save. Thanks.
