    Yeah so,

I've been getting those "Messenger Service" popups that says stuff like "55 critical errors, download this free thingy to fix it". I tried to go to Services and shut off the Messenger service but I get an error message when I try to open the Services thing.

Also, I don;t have a virus scanner, but I tried AVG, I tried TrendMicro Housecall, I tried another one with the word Bit in the name, and my computer automatically shuts down in the middle of the scan. I know for a fact that it's not because my CPU is overheating or anything. I have some sort of virus and it's causing these problems and making everything run terribly slow and making it take way longer than it should to start up my computer.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to fix it? I just friggin formatted both hard-drives and it's still there. I ran McAfee's Stinger and that did nothing. When I try to run adware programs they just shut themselves down in the middle of the test.

Anyone? Anything at all you can offer for help? I'm desperate.

I know you have mentioned you have trouble running some scans however please try to work through the following.

If you can't run one scan move on to the next and let me know which scans you cannot run and I will point you in the direction of an alternative.

I know you will be able to provide me with at least 3 logs once you have worked through this.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
