Sidewinder Wheel XP

Does anyone know how to get the Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel USB
to work in WINDOWS XP?

My Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel was malfuctioning, so I removed it from the DEVICE MANAGER thinking I would reinstall it again and that might fix it.
Although we used it on that PC with WINDOWS XP for years, it now won't let me install the software. I get an error relating to "A limitation exists with your computers resourses or configuration".
I have the original disc but it's for Win95 or 98. I set the compatibility mode for Win 98 and still it will not load.

It's a sad thing that Microsoft can't update drivers for their own hardware.
