Sign into your Microsoft Account.

I now have gotten an HP with Windows 8.1 and each time I click on a "Charm" I'm asked to sign into my Microsoft account before it will go into the app. I must then wait on an automated call from Microsoft and take down an 8 digit code to type into a dialog box. Is there a way to stop this? Thanksrolleyes

 

It happens because you have opted to sign in to your computer with a local account rather than with a Microsoft account. Go into Sign-in Options in Settings to switch. Then you will only need to sign in at startup and you can even simplify that to using just a PIN if you wish.
