Simple Question

Hello i have windows xp home edition and i simply want to know how to turn off virus protection pro.... every 5-10 minutes it pops and interrupts me from playing any game i have..... there is no pop up that comes with it but when i play counter strike it exits me outta game..... please help it probably is easy n theres a way around it
