I have a Shuttle Hot-637P and it uses a slot 1 processor i supports SEPP and SECC and im not sure about SECC2 (Mainly PIII) If my mobo doesn't support SECC2 and i use an SECC2 Processor what would happen? Would the bios not recognize it and windows does? or neither the mobo or bios will be able to recognize it?

I can't find much info for the HOT-637p CPU support list, but IMO, you would be better off saving your money than spending it on a faster P2 processor. Most of the links are saying that the 440 LX chipset doesn't support P3 processors, only a P2 333Mhz. Whether that is true or not, I don't know.

If I were you, I'd save up $200 and just buy a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM. You will be much better off than trying to find a P2/3 processor that will probably cost you at least $50 and may only last a year. Here would be my suggestion:

    MSI motherboard ($62):

    Athlon 64 3000+ ($65):

    512Mb of DDR2 memory ($35):

New case with power supply ($26):
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811145046

    Total: $188

I know it's not quite the question you asked, but this would be a much better solution to any upgrade you might be trying to do with that system.

Thank you for the info i was planning on building my own pc but then it would've taken me a while to come up with the money, my friend had a p3 slot 1 that i could have bought from him but i wasn't sure if it would work with mine. so i just needed a p3 while i come up with the money for a new pc

I note from the Shuttle site the last bios upgrade for this board was in 2000.

    http://global.shuttle.com/Download/Download_File.asp?Item=HOT-637

Further reading the manual (p13)suggests that the board is basically designed to support a bus speed of 66Mhz. It can be jumpered to 83 M but this is not enough to support the slowest P3 - sorry these use 100mHz and above.

you could also fit an celeron in a SEPP package but these are p2 anyway so no gain.

Save your money and keep looking.
