I have a pc that is slow starting up, slow running programs, slow shutting down. I ran all the programs in the Read Me file as instructed. It found some things and deleted them but is still running slow. Where do I send the log files (or do I send them) from all these programs?
Also, I am highly suspicious that Norton AV may be part of the problem.
    Thank you.

As stated in the READ & RUN ME, you attach them to your thread in the forum. You can attach them to this thread.

Thank you. Sorry. It just didn't connect when it said to attach to my message. Here are the files. It is currently taking about 9 minutes for this PC to boot up and when I click on a folder to open it, it takes a full minute for it to respond and open the folder. Most everything on it is running really slow. All logs in zipped folder. Thank you.

Well the good news is that you are not having malware problems. The bad news is also that you are not having malware problems ;) and will have to look elsewhere. I will give you a few non-malware things to do below that will improve things slightly, but as you guessed, the first place to look is at uninstalling Norton. If you decide to try uninstalling Norton then you should also run the below after uninstalling and then reboot (don't skip the reboot) and then run it one more time and reboot again.

    Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT)

Now here are the other tweaks you should do.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - Global Startup: Compaq Connections.lnk = C:\Program Files\Compaq Connections\1940576\Program\BackWeb-1940576.exe
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZRxdm479YYUS

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
