Slow start for internet

    I have an old Compaq laptop. 256 RAM (I know I need to upgrade).

    I removed AVG and installed AVAST.

    Even before removing AVG and installing AVAST I have noticed that starting up the internet, whether its IE or Firefox, is very slow. It takes about an hour for it to get started, but once it gets started its' fine.

    I recently ran the Malware Removal process and had the logs read which came up clean.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening?

    is it only opening up a browser that takes a long time or is it all programs?
