smartphones and viruses

    i've had a treo 700p (verizon) for over a month and absolutely love it! but, after all the malware and virus problems i've had with my laptop, i'm wondering if viruses and malware that infect smartphones exist? if so, what can i do to protect my phone and all the personal info i stash on it?
