sndvol32.exe Volume Control Desktop Icon

Hi guys,

The desktop icon to adjust volume is missing and when I went into the control panel>sound, speech, audio devices, to get it back, it said to find it in add/remove...it wasn't there either, I tried to add it back with add/remove Windows components, and it's not there either. I did a search online and came up with two websites that claim to have the correct download:

But on one of them, they advise not to do that, that it would be dangerous, but instead to download RegCure Pro. I came onto Majorgeeks to check out RegCure Pro, and saw many links warning against it.

What do you advise?

In XP, look in C:\Windows\system32 it should be there.
I suspect if you run sfc /scannow it will take a copy stored in the C:\Windows\system32\dllcache and place it where it is supposed to be.

I did as you said. It's not there, but it looks like if I dig up my Windows XP disc, it could fix it then.

I grabbed mine from the system32 dllcache. I zipped it up and I will upload it.

You download it, unzip it so it is back to an exe file and place it in the system32 folder and the dllcache folder.
