Hi im not sure if this is where i should be posting this or not but i need some help. I have a Toshiba labtop and i have two problems. When i first bought the laptop i installed Yahoo messenger, MyspaceIM, and ad-Aware 2007. Everytime i open them they have the error message come up that says "Service has encountereda problem and needs to close" and give you the option to send error report or dont send and it closes the program. I have to open the program serveral times before it will stay open. Since it was doing this from the first day i bought the laptop brand new im sure its not a virus or anything. I was just wondering if you could help me with that. ALSO.. I do know i have malware or something because i get popups like no one buisness lol. and its usually popups for virus scanners or window registery fixers and what not. Sometimes they are other things but im not sure where to fine the problem or what to do. can someone please help me and if i ahve posted in the wrong area im really sorry just tell me where to post at and ill repost if i need to. Thanks, Michelle

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

In this forum we can help you with Malware issues. Application errors may or may not be related to malware. After you run thru the below, we will know whether or not there are malware issues to deal with.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Ok i got all the stuff done. Im still getting the popups. As for the panda scan i couldnt get thru it all the way. It would pause and not keep going but i saved what it found. It restarted like 4 times and it still got stuck so i just posted the results from what it did scan.

You must put HijackThis into the proper folder as requested. You installed it exactly where we specify not to install it. Fix this now.

Then run this Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal but run it multiple times until it comes up clean. Then attach the final VundoFix log.

Then attach a new HJT log!

Ok i did the scan until it was clean. I had to restart a few time but its clean. I redid the hijack scan. Its where it told me to put it. It said not to change the place where it downloaded and i never touched it. Also when i rebooted after doing the scan to remove those items i got this error message C:\windows\system32\yblpmgvp.dll The specified module could not be found.

Just thought i would add im not having any popups so far but i still have that error message on startup and i still get the error messages when starting certain programs where they have to close. I dont what could be the problem there because it has been doing it since i have taken the laptop out of the box. i have uninstalled the programs and reinstalled them and it doesnt work. any suggestions to why it would be doing this?

You forgot to attach the VundoFix log! Please attach it!

Your log from ShowNew looks like it was edited. Please do not edit the logs. Post complete logs.

Uninstall the Sunbelt CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it now! Then delete the below two folders which may be left behind by the uninstall:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software"

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1808BB6E-F956-47A5-836F-155E352FF0DB} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpo.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {34367877-82B6-46A6-B910-44CCC1331811} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8A61098D-612B-4EF2-943D-64E920684061} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\byxvsrr.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E12BFF69-38A7-406e-A8EF-2738107A7831} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmflpdrs.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ApachInc] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\yblpmgvp.dll",realset
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: gebyy - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyy.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

You need to delete one more file. Delete the below:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqtwa.bak1

You did not tell me how things are working!

Well thats strange! The reason I question it is that only the below show in your uninstall programs list.
And you have a lot more installed than that. For example you have the below installed:

ok do i need to run the avenger again to delete the file or run the hijack and click it and fix it? They seem to be doing good right now. No popups as of right now. But when i rebooted i got the Drwatson postmartem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close. What program is that? I haven't downloaded that program so im not sure what it is. Also my yahoo and other prgrams still get the encountered error and needs to close when i open them. But no pop ups :)

No just run Windows Explorer and navigate to the file and right click on it and select Delete.

It's part of Windows and runs when there is some kind of problem within the OS. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308538

This is not a malware problem!

Also not a malware problem and perhaps it is related to why things do not appear in your Uninstall list as I was questioning. Perhaps you have a few programs that are not correctly installed or that have been corrupted. Maybe you need to uninstall them, reboot and then reinstall. But again this is not a topic for the Malware Fourm.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    9. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
