So whats witht he Radeon HD 2900 XT's

i read some reviews of the card on Newegg and they all say this card sucks compared to the Nvidia counterpart and is burning hot (over boiling temperatures) in addition to using ~250 watts of power. I would have expected a better card out of them since they released to so late after the Nvidia Dx10 cards, any speculation on why they arent so good, were those reviews fake? does anybody own a Radeon HS 2900 XT and would give some input on this?

 

I don't own one but I have a friend that does and yes it does run hot and is about equivalent to a 8800GTS which is disappointment seeing how long it took for them to come out.
