    Dear MajorGeeks Forum,

    Software - DELL - 2009.09.20

The following message appears on starting Windows 2000 in the DELL Computer. Please advice me on what to do as I have no clue on how to proceed further.

Windows - Low on Registry Space
Your maximum registry size is too small. To ensure that Windows runs properly, increase your maximum registry size. For more information, see Help.

    Thanking you.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Manilka

    Dear MajorGeeks Forum,

    Software - DELL - 2009.09.20

Sorry I forgot to inquire regarding the below given topic in the initial thread.

    Start-up items

I would be very grateful if you can tell me, which items are not essential to be running and hence can be disabled by using StartupCPL.

    Startup (Common)
    • Quick Books Update Agent

    HKLM/Run
    • DataLayer
    • PCSuite TrayApplication
    • Synchronization Manager
    • Trickler

    Thanking you.
    Yours Sincerely,
    Manilka

Sorry I can't help withthe "Registry" size problem. Have never seen that particular problem. Have seen one like it for Virtual Memory.
As for startup, only 5 items are on my personal startup list.
    Firewall
    AV program
    3 antispyware programs.
Everything else gets started on an "as needed" basis.

    Start-up items
Startups could be checked quickly by using either of these good places, SysInfo and BleepingComputer. This was sugested by this forum. Refer "Software- IBM" in the Software Forum.

    Thanking you.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Manilka

Probably our Laboratory needs a Major Geek rather than a Medical Officer. Do I have the qualifications?

    Thanking you.
