software distribution service 3.0

    I was getting the words,"System Checkpoint" whever I created a system restore point until a M.S. download about 3 weeks ago. Now the restore point says,"Software Distribution point 3.0".
    I called M.S. who, after much research and time, said they are the same and both will perform a system restore.
    As I browse the web i find some people saying the latter does not allow for a system restore.
    Does anyone know the real truth behind this issue before I am disappointed when I need to perform one?
