Software or Hardware Problem?

Hey people ive started having a problem with my computer, After about 20 - 30 minutes IE starts to not respond, the tabs on MSN dont work, things stop responding aswell as dying when i try to install something, like it stops at 99% or 100%... Ive noticed its just when trying to install icons?! so when its stops working it needs a manually restart and wont shut down on its own...

Could this be a problem with my CPU or something hardware related or something to do with Windows? but it shouldnt be windows seeing as a formatted just a few weeks ago...

2.4ghz P4
512 DDR
160GB HDD
Geforce4 MX-440 SE 64MB

Oh another thing... Task manager wont open when this happens to... im so screwed

 

Could well be something as simple as too many tmp and other unnecessary gunk files holding up the works. Download Crap Cleaner (link available this site) and use it. Then do a defrag and see if there's any improvement.
