software to clean hard drive

Hi all.. nana and I are planning to give our grandkids our old desktop.... we will of course delete everything from it... but how do I clean up the hard drive so the grandkids don't someday inadvertanly see papa and nana in a picture which might shock their little minds?:-o

 

It depends on what type of User your current logon is; if it's a separate administrative account from the built-in Administrator or a normal (Limited) User account then the easy way is to create a new user Acc for the grandkids, log into the Administrator account then delete your old User account, files and all. Post #4 here describes the process better than I did .

To enable wiping of free space after normal deletion/Recycle bin emptying, CCleaner has a tool for that, install and open it > Tools > Drive wiper.
