Solder a AGP in?

    that AGP connecter looks like it's meant for those slim server rigs.

    And I had the same idea with an old board except it had an empty space where an extra RAM slot could go, just never actually investigated the possibility as you'd probably need to install a special BIOS to do such a thing, nevermind about soldering the thing in. Not saying it would be impossible just probably more trouble than it's worth.

    I think a new MOBO (or video card) would be cheaper. Not to mention reversable.

    Assuming the motherboard chipset and/or Bios would even support an AGP slot, it wouldn't be that easy to solder, even for a professional.

    They are generally machine soldered, and the motherboard electronics must be shielded from static and heat during the process. It's not that simple.

    In other words, just get a new motherboard. They aren't expensive.

    It would likely cost more to have an AGP socket soldered in by a pro than to buy a new mobo..bh.
