    Win 7/32

I must reset my screen saver settings daily. That is a new phenomenon since installing Wise.

    Anyone seeing similar problem? :-o

Don, at this point it seems like a problem not isolated to Windows 10.
    Therefor I've re-opened this thread.

I run a screensaver on a Win 7 32 bit desktop computer. It has worked fine for over a year. In fact, I think I also set one up on my husband's 32 bit Win 7 desktop.
I run Home Premium and he runs Pro.

    Post your screensaver setting.
    Post your power plan options.

    UPDATE:

Out of absolute frustration, I changed my screen saver settings to a different color text (I know, that shouldn't make any difference) but screen saver initialized as expected. However, my gadgets (Calendar and digital clock) didn't initialize.

Forgive me, but I suspect that Wise Care 365 is the culprit. If it hadn't been highly recommended on MajorGeeks I would never have installed it. I'm paranoid about giving that much control to what seems like a porn spawning site. If my suspicions prove unfounded, I will make a public apology to the developers.

I will continue monitoring and report back if unusual performance issues persist.

Screen saver started working and gadgets are back. Absolutely no idea why.

Color (or colour) me a happy camper (but please stay within the lines).

The publisher of Wise Care 365 is eagerly awaiting your apology...;)

    Eldon,

To sound the "All Clear" is a bit premature. I am still experiencing strange performance issues and my first ever random shutdowns with an Error Message from my video card: NVIDIA system shutdown, followed a few seconds later with a spontaneous recovery. Something is not playing nice!

I posted this to the "Screen Saver" thread after reading the identical problem posted today.

When all of these new issues have been solved to my satisfaction (status quo), I will loudly sound the "All Clear".

I haven't even mentioned the foul language rampant on their obviously un-moderated user forums. :major

    Don,
This one has me baffled. It's the first time I have heard of this problem. And the possible causes are numerous. I'll keep a watch on both threads. And do keep us posted no matter how insignificant it might seem.

    Eldon,

It may be unrelated, but I just discovered that some seldom-used programs have mysteriously returned to factory default settings. Not a big thing but inconvenient. Add that fact to your list of Strange & Bizarre Behaviors - Vol 1. ;)

Forgive my ignorance of SA Geography, but are you anywhere near Johannesburg. A musician friend from Joburg is coming to entertain at my Nursing Home (I'm mute and paralyzed) on September 15th and her show will be webcast. Your on the dark side of the Earth but if you enjoy Folk Music ala John Denver, then I encourage you to tune in. Josie does a fabulous show and you'll find me in the front row.;)

    Eldon,

    New discovery:

As I gradually cycle through programs in my normal daily routine, I continue to discover strange new behaviors.

Most recently, my preferred media player, Media Monkey, will not come out of REPEAT Mode. After playing completely through the playlist, it starts through it again endlessly. Pressing the Repeat Button on the player has no affect whatever.

Is this possibly another gremlin in Wise Care 365?

    Don

    Hi Don

I think the issue may well be in Wise as a PC cleaner it also cleans the registry so in that vain, it may well upset Windows settings so in your case the screensaver.

Uninstall the Wise software and see how your PC works in relation to the screensaver settings, and at least this may rule in or out Wise as the cause.

Registry and PC cleaning software can be a PITA at times and cause all sorts of issues.

    Thanks David.

Another issue noticed just today: While watching a movie on NetFlix, it spontaneously went out of Full Screen Mode several times. I think something is affecting my video card. As I've said, Wise Care 365 is my only recent install.

I will try your suggestion tomorrow and report back.

    Don,
Have a look at the Top Freeware Picks.
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/top_freeware_picks.html

The author (co-owner of MajorGeeks) will not have added Wise Care 365 if there were any issues. And you have the Pro version.
If you cleaned the Registry, there will be a backup to restore all the keys and values that were removed. Most of the changes made by the program can be reverted. But not if you uninstall it...

FYI Wise Care 365 doesn't change any settings in Media Monkey, nor does it do anything that can affect your video card.
I understand your frustration, but I do not believe Wise Care 365 is the culprit.

PS I sent you a Private Message.
