Sony-NEC Optiarc DVD RW

    Anyone know where I could pick up a driver for my Sony-NEC Optiarc AD-7170S ATA DVD-RW? Vista is killing me asking for it, although I'm pretty sure it doesn't need one (after three hours of looking; I'm getting dangerously close to buying an iMac).

    It's recognised in the BIOS and in Device Manager but it refuses to work.

    SEND HELP!

    Define 'refuses to work'. Would also help to clarify what Vista is asking you. Maybe a screenshot would help.

    Can you open My Computer (just Computer in Vista, IIRC), and see the drive listed there?

    If so, can you right-click and select 'Eject', and have the tray come out?

    I have an NEC-OptiArc DVDRW on my home PC (WinXP Pro) and I have installed several with Vista and have never had any issues. As Mada stated above, some details would really help...
