Yeah I know I post a lot, sorry. I'm just new to a lot of things when it comes to building, repairing computers and getting the right parts, and with that when is it ever not a good thing to ask a lot of questions, you can never be to sure about things, Thanks to you guys my first build was nearly flawless and all is going well.

On to the subject at hand, My gf has a laptop that she has been nagging me to fix for the longest time but ive been putting all my builds and repairs first. Anyway, The Hard drive went out in this laptop and a guy linked me to a compatible 80GB HD
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3212548&CatId=2675 It's 50 some dollars and i thought that's just a bit much for an old P4 laptop, Ive looked on ebay but the prices are just as bad, but really i don't know exactly what to look for; as to some of you guys on here may be able to find me a better deal. Thanks!

Little tip from years of experience "always fix the missus PC first" because:
    - They "have to use your PC",
    - It stops the nagging,
    - You look good in their eyes once it is done.

    Here is the product page:

Here is a link for Sony Stores:

    But the look damn expensive.

I assume they are pretty standardised products, i.e. 2.5" Laptop HDD?, so Newegg:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...5&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=PRICE

    Tigerdirect looks better still:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Recs=10&Nav=|c:1277|&Sort=4 $35 for an 80GB SATA

    Or must it be EIDE????

I would also be checking the for sale forums for someone who has an old one that they are selling as you may get a "damaged laptop" (e.g. screen gone) for less and have lot's of other spare parts?
