Sound in safe mode please read

I have recently contracted at least one virus, and it's making my machine almost totally un-useable, except when in safe mode. When I run in safe mode with networking enabled, everything i use my computer for works just fine, except for sound which is something i cannot do without on my machine. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to enable sound while running in safe mode. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Even if you could get the sound to work in Safe Mode (which you won't as the drivers required aren't loaded), that doesn't really give you a workable solution.

What is your operating system and do you have a CD?

Also, does the computer start and what is the exact problem?
