This is a replacement for an eMachines T2896 Seabreeze Motheboard.

eMachines wants $160 with a 90 day warranty and I'm thinking that one of you guys will have a good source at a better price.

The MOBO is labeled Intel D845EPI/D845GVSR and does have integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 3D video and a RJ45 connector-Intel Pro 10/100 Lan.

    The system has a Celeron D -2.52 GHz 256k L2 Cache - 533 MHz FSB

Can I use the Intel D845PEMY or the Intel D845GLVAL as a replacement?

They both appear to have the physical layout.

The Intel website indicates that the board is a D845GVSRL based upon the integrated Pro 10/100 Lan.

Thanks in advance for any help.....

If you don't use a mobo from Emachine same exact one, you will probably have to reinstall Windows.
If your using a restore disk and you use a different MOBO it probably wont work.

Most likely you can use any mobo that supports your same CPU, Emachine isn't Proprietary.
Same physical layout doesnt really matter if your case/tower has a removable IO plate/ all retail mobo's come with IO plate
What would matter is size of mobo, ATX/Micro ATX???

What exact Model Emachine do you have?
Restore disk or what version windows have you?
Different MOBO may need new OS..............

Damn - not as easy as it first appeared......

    Hi ASUS,

Thanks for getting back to me.
I haven’t had to replace a MOBO since Win-95 so I am a little out of date.

What I need is a replacement for an eMachines T2896 Seabreeze MOBO that is MicroATX size and has Celeron D -2.52 GHz 256k L2 Cache - 533 MHz FSB.

The MOBO is labeled Intel D845EPI/D845GVSR and does have integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 3D video and a RJ45 connector-Intel Pro 10/100 LAN.

Looking at the Intel website – it says that the MOBO should be a D845GVSRL based upon the integrated Pro 10/100 LAN.

So, using any non-eMachines MOBO / BIOS will cause a problem with Win-XP, huh?
    That is a royal pain!!!!!

That means that using the Intel D845PEMY or the Intel D845GLVAL as a replacement will give me problems with the OS currently on “C:\”.

The first link “http://www.a2zcomp.com/buy.asp?REF=12&SKU=18010318” has a pic that has the integrated video missing from the MOBO.

The second link ” http://search.ebay.com/d845gvsr_W0QQ...sopZ1QQxpufuZx” shows a pic with both the integrated video and LAN-RJ45 but does not mention the integrated LAN in the text.

    The third link “http://www.best-price.com/procSystem...FRMdSQodHlyW3g” shows
a pic with both the integrated video and LAN-RJ45 but says that it is for the Gateway Nimitz II motherboard does not mention the integrated LAN in the text. This one says that the BIOS chip has a socket and the one I have has the eMachines BIOS soldered onto the MOBO next to the battery socket.

Looks like I have some more research to do before I tackle this job.

Any additional help or clues would be most appreciated.

    Thanks again for your assistance……..
