Splinter Cell Double Agent won't launch!!

    Installed w/patch. My system exceeds all required specs for the game. Things I've tried: Uninstall/reinstall; update/rolled back video card drivers; reinstalled directx 9.0c that came on game disk & from MS; selective startup, disabling load startup items; disable virus/firewall software.
    When I launch the game, after reading the game disk for a short time, my PC reboots, everytime...PLEASE HELP! Multi-player works fine. So far UBI is no help.
