Spybot blocked by Norton antivirus?

    Since updating Norton antivirus recently, whenever I run Spybot, it gives this message (and nothing else):

    Windows Security Center
    FirewallDisableNotify

    1. Does this mean I need to change a setting in Norton antivirus to stop this message from appearing, or is it okay for this message to appear after every search?

    2. Is Spybot search & destroy working okay? Since the above message is all I get, I'm hoping it means Spybot has been able to search and has not found anything that needs removing.

    These are not problems! They are just warnings to inform you that your system has been changed from default settings of having Windows as your Security Center and Firewall. Since you installed Norton, it took on the role of your security center and firewall. Spybot's is just telling you this info. If you had not installed anything like Norton (or similar) to do this, then you would have to be concerned.

    That's excellent news. Many thanks!

    One other message I often get when trying to download updates to Spybot is "bad checksum". What does this mean? (It goes away when I try to download again).

    It happens when trying to access the download servers and has a problem downloading the files. Just choose a different server when this happens and it normally resolves the problem.
