I'm sorry, its late, I've been messing with this all day haven't been able to complete the suggested method of removing spyfalcon. I have windows xp service pack 2(not sure if you need any other info). I have seemed to come down with spyfalcon, and mssearchnet.
When trying to get rid of spyfalcon, I clicked on fixfalcon.reg, and got this error message: "Cannot import C:\Documents: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or fie system error."
I also have mssreachnet as well, and ewido starts up when windows starts, and gives me the option to block and clean that file, and it still comes back. I know that is what it was designed for, but is there a way to get rid of both at once? I haven't actually looked up removal for mssearchnet, I really wanted to get rid of spyfalcon first, but will gladly take as much advise as you care to give.
    Thanks
    BOb

    Welcome to MG's.

Does the Windows Registry Editor work on your system. Click Start, Run, and enter regedit and click Ok. Does Regedit run? If so, try click File, Import and locate the fixfalcon.reg patch and ee if you can import it. Either way just continue on with the remaining steps and attach your smitfiles.txt log when finish.

Also indicate if you are still having problems and describe them. If you still do have problems, you should complete the below instructions.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

Ok, so now I have a strange situation. I haven't quite gotten the time to finish the spyfalcon removal process. Now it doesn't even show up anymore. Whats the deal?
I have sygate personal firewall(free version) Ver. 55 build 2710. I have not allowed explorer.exe to access the network, nor Winntlogon.exe(not entirely sure if thats the correct spelling and extention), because as soon as I got spyfalcon it was running, so I don't know if it was related as I didn't see anything about it in several places I've searched for. Also I haven't run any antivirus scans.
I did uninstall spyfalcon in safe mode(both my account, and as admin). This is just before double clicking fixfalcon.reg where I was stopped and originally asked for help.
I think thats all for now.
    Appreciate it all so far.
    Bob

Explore.exe is you main Windows OS system file. It loads your Desktop and more. It needs access thru your firewall. You will have to be more accurate with "Winntlogon.exe" before I can say what it really is.
