Hello everyone, I have a weird question.

I have spysweeper, purchased version. It started popping up ads saying, we are blocking your connection to this ip address as it is known for spyware. Out of the blue, no programs would be launching, etc. I got really freaked out thinking I had some kind of malware, but nothing turned up from AVG or spysweeper itself. So I searched for the ip address, and, lo and behold, it is owned by the microsoft corporation...... Can anyone tell me what is going on???

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    What IP address?

    Have you spoken to WebRoot?

Just because AVG and Spy Sweeper do not find any malware, it does not mean you are clean. They miss lots of problems all the time.

I have not talked to webroot yet, I should do that.

    Here is the ip address:
    131.107.115.28

I also got a virus flagged on AVG, I forgot to mention that, it was the HTML/framer virus. But the alert kept happening after I quarantined that.

This is a Microsofty site so WebRoot is incorrect. It is not malware. It is related to .NET. See this: http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/clr/thread/7eed95ab-5562-4c48-a81d-7792566da539/

If you think you have malware problems, please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
