Hi guys,it's been a while since I had to post here...thanks! I am curious about a website's ability to know that I have already downloaded trial software when I have deleted all entries and my history. Are they putting spyware on y pc or hiding a cookie somewhere?I have run all the specified tools and erased my tracks/history several times. Please understand I do not want to abuse trial S/W,I just don't like being tracked,or infected! Thanks for any help.

History has nothing to do with it.

All software puts information into your registry when you install it. Even after uninstalling they can leave behind traces so they know your subscription has expired already. If you are not referring to an installation but merely the act of downloading then it could be a cookie on your system or they could also be remembering (on their system) which IP addresses or user accounts have already downloaded it from them.

I really would not be inclined to discuss this in too much more detail because as you mention it borders on providing information on how to do something illegal.
