    Hello

Today my SSD C: with Win7 64bit and most of my high use apps is acting up.

As it stands, every time I restart my system the following things are noticed.

-all changes to programs installed on C: are not saved. eg:I've been making new local folders in my thunderbird email client to sort through some work emails, they are all gone

-deleted files return to their original location. eg:I cleaned up a few files from my desktop, emptied recycle bin, but they are back in original location

-newly created files are not there. eg:as a test I created a new file on C: and another drive. The other drive has the file on restart, but not C:

I am unable to check the disk for errors "while in use" but when I check "schedule disk scan on startup" and restart, nothing happens.

It's like nothing I do on this drive sticks right now...

    *Edit*

Should add, everytime I restart now, I get the black "Windows error recovery" screen, asking how I would like to boot, safe/normal etc.
Also, when I start Firefox, it is asking to restore the tabs I had open 24 hours ago, just before this all started.
Related, the Firefox bookmark I added for this very thread is not there...

    MauserGDog...

Just asking....do you have a system sandbox on the PC like Sandboxie or ToolWiz TimeFreeze? Just wondering if one of these could have malfunctioned or remained running and then on boot perhaps is dumping changes?

I think the first thing I would do in your situation is look over the list of running programs in Task Manager and see if there is anything unusual running...to at least take a step toward ruling out software as the problem...

I guess this could be a write problem with your hard drive. There are programs that will test the functions of your hard drive, but I only know of one called Passmark Disk CheckUp. Disk CheckUp is good, but maybe someone will come along with a better one...

    No sandbox apps running.
Currently doing some last minute backing up, I fear the worst at this point.
My entire system is crumbling down around me.

Run a S.M.A.R.T. test on the drive.

Corsair SSD Toolbox SMART Status shows all vludes in green/ok.
Should I post a report here?

Not if it comes up all green. Can you test a change from safe mode and reboot and check?

The first thing I'd do at this point is acquire disk imaging software and backup the entire drive to another drive, just in case it turns out that your SSD is somehow failing despite the promising test results.

Here are a few disk imaging apps you can download right from this site:

    Macrium Reflect (freeware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/macrium_reflect_free_edition.html
    Paragon Drive Backup (freeware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/paragon_drive_backup.html
    EaseUS ToDo Backup (freeware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/easeus_todo_backup_free_edition.html
    O&O DiskImage Express (freeware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/oo_diskimage_express.html
    Acronis TrueImage (shareware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/acronis_true_image_home_2013.html
    NovaStor NovaBackup (shareware) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/novabackup.html

Note that all of these apps are large downloads (80 - 220 MB) because each contains a "mini" version of an operating system (WinPE or Linux) that is used in creating the boot disk that provides the user access to an unbootable (or bare metal) drive during the image restoration phase.

Ok, well something has changed because my most recent work/changes/deleted files have all survived 2x reboots.

Some test folders I made in Thunderbird local are still there.

Did the SMART test do something to the SSD? Or is this just the eye of the storm that is a soon to fail SSD? :-D

Going to do the disk imaging right now before I do any other tests.

Not familiar with the test you ran but it shouldn't have any effect like that. Definitely backup though in case this is something that is a precursor for something far worse.

Is here any chance that a nearly full SSD with my OS on it, would lead to the problems I am having?

Until about 1hour ago, I only had 5.5gb of 64gb of free space on my C: drive. I also have my 1gb page file on the C: drive....:-o

I could see a big performance hit happening, but not the problem you described, no.
