>start>turn off computer>restart isn't working (XP)

My computer isn't restarting when I press that restart button..... or the shut off one =[..... I have to keep shutting it down via the buttons on my actual computer and that kinda sucks. I first noticed it doing this three or four days ago when Homeworld 2 froze on me, and it would not work... it did it a second time, but Homeworld 2 had froze on me again! But now it's doing it regaurdless of if Homeworld 2 is open or not...

Also, I've done virus scans and the such, I just installed the new version of AVG and the new version of Ad-Aware so I'm pretty covered in those areas. Did full scans too with updated pattern files.. What's wrong? =[

 

Boot into safe mode and do a full system virus scan and ad-aware. Than see if you can shutdown/reboot properly from safe mode.

 

It sounds like something in windows got messed up. You should either load a recent restore point or try undoing anything you've done recently, like uninstalling homeworld 2, etc.
