Starting to fear major computer problems/Hacker

Ok, I'm new to this whole computer thing-my brother has been using this computer for a while... and just gave it to me. This computer is acting weird, but upon asking my friends about my computer's behavior-they think that I could be getting hacked and/or I have a lot of spyware or something. Can someone please tell me what to do to fix and maintain my computer? I dl'd that HiJack This program, now I need a little assistance on how to use it. A friend came over and tried to do it and posted it on this forum. But I don't think he did it right. Help please... Also, new random icons just appeared on my desktop. What is going on???

 

First:

Download this proram and follow the below steps Hoster.

1. Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster.

• Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
• Click the X to exit the program.

Second:

Download LSP-Fix

After download is complete, Run LSP-Fix

Check the Box labeled "I know what I'm doing" and then click on the files aklsp.dll & dolsp.dll (in the “Keep” section) to select them.

Then, Select the >> button to move aklsp.dll & dolsp.dll into the Remove section.

Now, click the Finish Button. When the Repair Summary box appears, click OK.

(Note: If the files aklsp.dll & dolsp.dll are already in the remove section, then just click FINISH.)

Third:

For this entry you will need to run Spybot. Before you do you need to go into Advanced Mode and uncheck ALL of the ignored items.

Fourth:

Please update to Hijack This 1.99.1 and attach a new log using the new version after you finish the below steps.

CLOSE ALL BROWSERS WHILE USING HIJACK THIS!

Fifth:

Do as many of these steps as possible in this thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Sixth:

Download and install Microsoft® Windows AntiSpyware during the install make sure you get any updates BUT BEFORE YOU START THE SCAN: Print or save these instructions locally now because you will have to be disconnected with no browsers open in the following steps.

Please make sure ALL Browser Windows are Closed and also you should physically disconnect from the Internet by unplugging your cable. Do not reconnect or open a browser again until requested.

Now allow the Microsoft Antispyware program to run a full scan. After it completes, reboot again in normal boot mode and continue the below steps.

Seventh:

After doing ALL of the above, scan with HJT and attach a new log using the new version.

 

They posted the log inline, after I posted it was gone. I briefly saw it before it was removed, but I noticed a few entries thats why I posted what I did.
