Hi. I've read the other posts but it's all a bit french to me lol. I have the problem of the computer at start up saying it will close within 1 min. I've founf that typing shutdown -a in run will stop this. The problem is the computer won't work. I can stop it shutting down but thats about it. I'm using AVG 9. But the identity component isn't active and refuses to become active. I also went through a log and found 'userenv' had a warning next to it, event 1517? Computer refuses to scan and I'm not technical enough to go deeper in. I've searched for the error as recommended by a friend just to try and delete it but it doesn't seem to exist. Any ideas? Please try and phrase it so I'd understand LOL. I've read thing about Malware, but I haven't the faintest what that is! Any help would save an innocent computer from being thrown from a tall building :)

Download this Win32kDiag and save to C:\Win32kDiag.exe. You must save it here!!!! Click on Start->Run, and copy-paste the following command (the bolded text) into the "Open" box, and click OK. When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop. Please attach this log.
    C:\win32kdiag.exe -f -r

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Should be here --> C:\MGTools.exe

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Then attach the below logs:

    • the log from Win32kDiag
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

thank you! I'm confused about attaching the log, what do I attach it to? I'm guessing it's a case of copy and paste, but I don't know where. I did warn you I wasn't very computer literate lol

You still need to ATTACH the C:\MGLogs.zip from running the C:\MGTools.exe.

Please see my previous post about how to attach items to your posts.
